PE Premium Report

At Holly Meadows School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

Our Primary School Sports Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, entering into more competitive sports competitions and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions.

Possible uses of the funding include:

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE
  • New or additional Change4Life sport clubs
  • Paying for professional development opportunities in PE/sport
  • Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE/sport
  • Running sport competitions, or increasing participation in the school games
  • Buying quality assured professional development modules or material for PE/sport
  • Providing places for pupils on after school sport clubs and residential visits

Holly Meadows School used the £8,579 funding for 2016- 2017 in the following ways:

Subscription to the West Norfolk School Sport Partnership to enable high level engagement in sporting activities and competition in the Western Area up to county level.

£1200

Employing a PE specialist as subject leader to oversee the PE curriculum, deliver PE lessons and oversee the provision we offer through after school clubs.

Our Subject Leader provides support for staff across the school, giving assistance with planning and delivery of the PE, quality assessment and advice on areas for development.

£6,679

Providing transport to and from sporting competitions.

£400

Specialist Dance teacher led workshops with Key Stage 2 pupils in preparation for performances, providing high quality CPD for staff.

£300

The impact of this funding

  • The school has been recognised for its high level of engagement in PE, competitive and sporting activities and has achieved Gold Standard PE Kite Mark Award.
  • The HLTA with NPECTs training is leading PE across the school and advising staff on how to raise their quality of teaching.
  • Children who have accessed this provision provided by the sports funding are more knowledgeable and confident in more aspects of school sport.
  • Children have had more opportunities to keep fit and healthy and have a better understanding of why this is important.
  • Following a survey of the children’s preferences on clubs they would like to attend, sporting clubs have been run at some point for a half term (minimum) fun-fitness, dodge ball, football, multi-sports, cross country running and cycling.
  • Pupils from 4-11 years have developed their cycling skills and participated in competitions. The PE subject leader has completed ‘Go-Ride’ and Balance-ability cycle training. A large proportion of pupils in Key Stage 1 have learnt to ride a bike at school during the balance-ability course. All pupils taking part in the Off Road Cycle training in 2016-2017 passed to a safe standard.

PE Premium 2017-2018

Due to the successful development of PE and the breadth of experiences we can offer at Holly Meadows, we have decided to continue using some of the PE premium as we did last year.

In order to further enhance our PE provision, we have also decided to purchase the ‘All 4 Sport’ PE scheme of work for the whole school, including teacher resources and an assessment package. All 4 Sport will help us to collect pupil voice data and analyse the impact that our high quality lessons have had. It will provide us with PE CPD resources for all staff and will help our PE Subject leader to carry out annual PE health checks and create action plans.

In 2017-2018 we will be allocated £17,490. We plan to do the following:

Subscription to the West Norfolk School Sport Partnership to enable high level engagement in sporting activities and competition in the Western Area up to county level.
